The kit I got to work with is called "50's Kitchen", so I knew immediately that I needed to scrapbook one of the many food pics I have printed but never do anything with, hahah.

And, finally I made this flower using the ribbon and one of the super cool bottle caps that came in the kit. I am not sure if I will use it on a future page or as a gift topper, but either way I think it turned out super cute and I love the way the colors go together.

Putting those flowers to use

So I finally just finished a scrapbook page that I've been working on the last few days. It's SO early for me to be crafting. Me? Finishing a page while it's light out? So weird. Anyways, here it is:

I wanted to use the flowers I had made using my cricut the other night, I added a few bought ones also but most of them I made myself which I am proud of because usually I end up not using them after I make them.

Do you have any favorite flowers to make?

I bought a bunch of stuff yesterday at michael's and walmart to make some more. I also got the stuff to try making some stuff using polymer clay which I've never done before, so that should be interesting!

Breaking in the new CRICUT!

Hello everyone!

My boyfriend got me a cricut as one of my christmas presents and I have been dying to play with it. I had one a few years ago but I never used my computer along with it which is AWESOME. The one he got me came with a $25 gift certificate for the cricut online store. I had a bunch of fun picking out a bunch of individual images to buy. I ended up spending five extra bucks which when it comes to scrapbooking embellishments...ain't half bad. My favorite thing so far is planning out the page on the computer so that no paper is wasted. Example: I'm going to cut a title using a black sheet of 12x12 paper. What else can I cut that I may want to use in the future? A black fence! A black cobweb! Then what was left of the page I filled up with flowers so that I can make flowers when I feel like it. It's all laid out on the screen for me-super easy! I bought a little storage box to put my 'extra' cut outs in so that they don't get messed up before I use them.

So, tonight I had these grand plans of doing a scrapbook page. I didn't know what I was going to do but I had an idea of some flowers that I wanted to make. I didn't get as far as I hoped I would because now it's 3am and my back hurts so I need to lay down but I still thought I'd share what I got done.

I made all the flowers out of white cardstock (except the bright orange one= orange paper) I used 3 different water color pencils on the biggest flower to make a soft blended color. I left the 3 smaller flowers white for now...I might glimmer mist them later on, I haven't decided yet.

Hopefully I can get the actual page done tomorrow!

Not Wanting to Throw Away Roses + My First Wreath!

Soooo, me being the sentimental sap that I am I did not want to just throw away the first bouquet of roses that my boyfriend gave me. I know, I know...you can gag over my cuteness. I could tell right away that this was something special though and that I could completely throw myself into the relationship and that it will last.

Have you ever had to tear apart scrapbook pages/ other projects that you've done because it had pics or memories of an ex tied to them? I have. Not this time though, I know it's the real deal.

Plus it's been a few months now and I feel that I can confidently share that I didn't just throw away the first flowers that he ever gave me.

(I also saved a rose from the night that he "officially" asked me out---but that's another story/ project to share.)

What can I do with roses? I thought for a couple of days and finally decided on a wreath! My first thought was of course a scrapbook page, but they would be too thick for that.

So I dried them in the oven on a low temp for an hour or so and then gathered the rest of the materials that I would need.

Being the thrifty crafter that I am there was no way I was going to spend $20+ on a blank wreath to decorate. Have you ever priced those? WHY are they so expensive? Anyways, I cut a circle shape out of a cardboard box that I had around the house. Free! Then, I took the packaging paper that was in the box (also free!) and ripped it into long strips. I took those strips and then dipped them in a glue & water mixture and decoupage style wrapped them around the cardboard base until it was all covered.

At this point I had to let it dry over night. The next day I painted the whole thing black, two coats to make sure it was all covered. While that dried I looked around for anything else around the house that fit my color scheme (black, red, & silver) that would look good on the wreath.

I came up with other flowers, sequins, paint, glittered heart embellishments, feathers, paper doilys, and even some rhinestones that I had pulled off of a pair of flip flops that fell apart. After messing around with where I wanted things to go for a couple days I finally glued everything down and this is the final project I came up with:

Happy New Year! +Something exciting to share!

Hey guys! (if anyone's left..?!)

I know I haven't been around much...or at all actually. In almost an entire year...that's crazy! I haven't been holding out on you guys, I actually haven't done any scrapbooking since last February. :(

I'm a little sad about it but hey, life happens. My family came into some financial struggles (our car was stolen right out of our driveway) and I had to take on a second job. In retail....oh god. I actually had two different retail jobs last year and hated them both. So much in fact that I am inspired to go back to school! So I suppose some good came out of it.

So I quit my second job, things have calmed down a little. I will be of course still be doing in home care taking care of my mom and also going to school online. With school being self paced and on my own time I am hoping to also carve out some time to get back to what I love: scrapbooking.

Altered Frame

Hellooooo everyone Heather here with a project to share. So I had this little ugly plastic frame sitting around in a junk drawer since I was in middle school (hoarder much?) and the other day I was going through stuff, came across the frame and thought "yanno...I bet I could make this pretty and have it out instead of hiding away in a drawer."

I covered some grungeboard I had in my stash with foil & embossed it. Some free hand and some with my sizzix. Then I decorated with inks, glimmer mists, stickles, cheesecloth, flowers, & a feather. Here's some close ups:



The glimmer mists, stickles, and flowers I used are all from the Your Memories Here store.

You are so Precious

Hey everyone it's Heather here with another page I made using some gorgeous Prima products I got in my Prima grab bag. I LOVE those things. It's always a surprise to see what you get, and never a disappointment.

My dog Bentley does this adorable thing where he lays on his back and holds his chewie bones in his paws like an otter. Here's a couple close ups:

Wall Hanging

Hey everyone, I'm here with something a little different to share this week. I got my prima grab bag in the mail a couple days ago and was VERY excited. One of the things I got was a prima "build a book" front & back cover. I wasn't really in the mood to start a mini album so I decided to use one of the covers to make a wall hanging instead.



Since I didn't want anyone to be able to see the wall through the red cover I started by covering the back using a piece of prima cardstock. I made sure to put my adhesive where it would be covered by the photo later. I cut around the edges with my craft knife.



The next step was to tie some ribbon on so it had something to hang on & cover up the 'extra' holes. I did so by glimmer misting a doily to match my piece and trimming off the extra.



After that I could decorate & embellish like usual, here's a few close ups:



The red backing, red flower, red crystals, and cream colored ribbon are all Prima.

Ready for a Night on the Town

Hey everyone,

It's monday which means it's time to share my 'Your Memories Her'e DT project. Lots of ink and stickles on this one you guys :)



Those are pictures of my grandparents from a few years back when they were all fixed up for a class reunion. Aren't they cute? ;)

For this part of the page I put down some texture paste and after it dried went back over it with some Stickles and Ranger distress ink.

This was actually just a piece of scrap paper I put under a dressform embellishment (for another project) I was prepping for paint. I thought it looked too pretty to throw away so I distressed the edges, added Stickles and Glimmer Mist and made something beautiful out of something that might have just been thrown away.

Berry 71 Bleu

I'm playing along at Berry 71 Bleu (http://www.berry71bleu.blogspot.com/) this month!!

Part of the challenge was that the project had to be about youself, so I made a list of words that came to mind when I think about describing myself:

Most of the time I spent working on this page was spent on the silver frame. I punched it out of white cardstock, painted it with silver crackle paint, and went around the edges & cut outs with pink & silver stickles. And yes my hand/ wrist was sore the next day ;)
